Background

Why do people do what they do?
That was the big question for me.

So I spent 18 semesters studying psychology and film studies at the University of Zurich. To my surprise, the films I came to know and love offered deeper, more nuanced answers to that question than the entire field of psychological research.

When I was 12, I came across a book on screenwriting. That moment changed everything: I realized films weren’t divine accidents—they were made by people. Later, I understood that story was the heart of every great film. Every film I loved began with a strong, well-crafted screenplay. That’s why I went on to study screenwriting with Robert McKee, Niklaus Hilber, and Patrick Tönz.

In 2004, I had written and directed my first stage play. But for years after, I hesitated to make a film. The idea of something so permanent—preserving every flaw and mistake—intimidated me.

Today, I work as a solo filmmaker: writing, shooting, directing, and editing hundreds of short films across all genres, including many documentaries.

Where do I go from here?
Only the stars know.
